Eco3 Tech Lab Is Now Open!
Ecolibrium3 is pleased to announce the opening of our public technology lab at the LNPK Community Hub. The lab is officially open after a successful ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by representatives from AARP Minnesota, Fox 21, and community members.
Why a Tech Lab?
These days, so much of everyday life starts with a screen: booking a doctor’s appointment, refilling a prescription, paying a bill, applying for a job, or video-chatting with the grandkids. But not everyone has a reliable computer or internet connection at home. Nationally, about three in ten adults age 65 and older lack home broadband, roughly one in ten never go online, and lower-income households are far less likely to be connected. And access is only half the story. Digital literacy, the skills and confidence to spot a scam email, create a strong password, or find trustworthy information online, can make a real difference for our health, our wallets, and our peace of mind.
That’s why we opened a tech lab at Ecolibrium3. Our mission is to lead and inspire change toward an equitable and sustainable future. In Lincoln Park, we help residents and businesses thrive in multiple ways, from economic security to health. Getting connected touches all of it. We also believe in the dignity of every human being, which means making sure people of all ages, abilities, backgrounds, and economic positions have a seat at the table, including the digital one.
Come as you are (no registration required!)
The Technology Lab is open Monday through Thursday from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the LNPK Community Hub, 2014 W 3rd St. in Lincoln Park. There’s nothing to sign up for. Just drop in! Hop on a computer to check your email, look for a job, explore a new hobby, or catch up on the news.
Friendly helpers will be on hand during open hours for basic tech help and support. Whether you’re wrestling with a new phone, trying to remember a password, or puzzling over a mysterious pop-up window, we’ll do our best to help.
Senior Planet classes keep on rolling
The Lab builds on the recently launched Senior Planet technology classes, and those classes are continuing! Senior Planet helps older adults build tech skills and confidence alongside their peers, and it’s part of our AARP Community Challenge grant. Want to know what’s coming up? Follow us @ecolibrium3 on social media for the latest on Senior Planet and other Hub classes.
Thanks for celebrating with us!
A big thank-you to everyone who came out for the ribbon-cutting, to the local media outlets that helped spread the word, and to the partners who helped make this happen. A neighborhood where everyone can get connected is a stronger neighborhood, and we can’t wait to see you in the Lab!
