This month, we had 26 new AmeriCorps volunteers join us across three programs! We are so excited for another great year of building capacity, improving food access, and addressing energy security in the community. We cannot wait to watch each new volunteer grow and develop their service skills.
We have two new VISTA volunteers serving at Eco3 and one placed at Mentor North, working across various capacities, including program communications and age-friendly initiatives. AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers serve for a year, building the capacity of local organizations with the ultimate goal of eradicating poverty. Volunteers will gain valuable experience, professional development, and build their resume through a service year.
Our new summer crew is made up of 9 Energy Training and 14 Food Corps volunteers. The Energy Training Corps volunteers are learning how to conduct home energy assessments, weatherize homes, and perform other upgrades to support overall home health. The ETC equips volunteers with robust training and energy industry certifications, positioning them to step into full-time employment as energy auditors and weatherization technicians.
Our Food Corp volunteers will be working on the Eco3 Urban Farm, supporting community programming at the LNPK Grocery store, performing invasive species management in community green spaces, and more. Make sure to follow our social media pages to keep up with what our newest recruits are up to!
