Starr is sitting on a bench in front of a piano. There is a large fern on top of the piano, and she is posing with the fronds around her shoulders like long hair.

Ecolibrium3 is pleased to welcome a new staff member, Starr Brainard! Starr joins our staff as Farmer in Residence. In this role, Starr supports all farm operations throughout the year, including growing produce, cultivating a healthy ecosystem, and programming.

Starr is an experienced farmer; she has been involved in sustainable agriculture since 2014, cultivating produce in many different growing conditions. She worked in the field in Egypt and Canada before settling in beautiful Duluth. Starr also has experience with community programs and restorative agriculture practices. Previously, she served as Land Stewardship Coordinator for the Duluth Community Garden Program for five years. She also runs her own diversified vegetable farm in Lincoln Park, called Saltless Sea Urban Farm, where she grows unique and nutritious produce, holds community engagement events, and practices soil-regenerative farming.

When she’s not in the field, Starr loves drawing, playing in her rock band, and spending time with her two dogs—a husky and a rescue street dog from Egypt. Welcome, Starr!
