As we look to 2026, we are opening doors for people interested in meaningful community development work through AmeriCorps. Start your career, try something new, and boost your skills with Ecolibrium3! Join the Energy Training Corps (ETC) for hands-on experience or become a VISTA to build lasting community systems.
Ecolibrium3 believes that everyone in the community should live comfortably with energy security and be able to afford their heating bills in the peak of winter. Through the Energy Training Corps, members will gain hands-on experience with proper weatherization techniques: air sealing, insulation, and combustion safety analysis. On the job site, ETC members can expect to learn the basic techniques of conducting comprehensive home energy assessments, including the use of diagnostic tools to identify areas of energy loss and inefficiency. ETC is an AmeriCorps State and National program that provides “direct service” opportunities leading to environmental stewardship. In a city that experiences harsh winters and high heating bills, ETC members aren’t just sprayfoaming leaky wall cavities; they are helping homeowners cut down on utility expenses.
AmeriCorps VISTA members serve for a year, building the capacity of local non-profit organizations and public agencies in the Northland with the ultimate goal of eradicating poverty. The Eco3 VISTA Corps focuses on addressing poverty holistically from various angles, including food access and systems, government policy, community development, education, public health, creative placemaking, energy security, and more. Eco3 VISTA members work with organizations deeply embedded in the community to help develop solutions to community challenges through leveraging resources, building partnerships, expanding reach, and improving organizational efficiency. VISTA members often work behind the scenes, building systems, maximizing program efficiency, and expanding organizational reach, but you can also see them out in the community at events, spreading the word about the great work being done in our community.
Both the Energy Training Corps and VISTA programs come with an education award at the end of service. This award can be used to pay for college or go towards student loans. Another benefit of the programs is that they are great for building your resume and gaining experience. AmeriCorps is the perfect opportunity to build your skills at any point in your career, whether you are just starting out or looking to try something new.
We are seeking AmeriCorps members now! Check out our available positions at ecolibrium3.org/americorps. Applications can be submitted through the AmeriCorps portal at my.americorps.gov.
