Founded in 1892, the Sierra Club is a national nonprofit organization with more than 3.8 million members and supporters. Originally, the Sierra Club was focused on the conservation of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. Since then, the Sierra Club has evolved into an organization that works to advance equitable climate solutions driven by an environmental justice movement.
The Sierra Club North Star Chapter is the Minnesota branch of the national organization. The North Star Chapter is made of 80,000 Minnesotans empowered to protect and enhance our communities’ well-being through environmental and social justice advocacy. The Duluth Sierra Club team works through grassroots organizing to ensure a just transition to 100% clean and equitable energy in the Northland.
