The Community Action Duluth Seeds of Success urban farming program was founded in 2009 to increase access to fresh and healthy food in Duluth, with a focus in the Lincoln Park and Central Hillside neighborhoods. Seeds of Success manages three farmers markets, but also runs a produce stand that sells fresh, local veggies, herbs, and fruit bits. Seeds of Success makes the food even more affordable by offering up to $15 a week in a SNAP matching program and the Power of Produce Club, which gives children and youth $4 each market to spend on fresh produce.
In addition, Seeds of Success also runs a transitional employment program, that provides employment opportunities for adults who either have a criminal background or lack of job references to gain proper employment — or, in some cases, both.
